Ojala, CA

Every year on the 4th of July, we usually are inside the house with the windows closed, music or television up to drown out all the fireworks that our neighbors are setting off. Our pup gets anxiety and pants uncontrolabley, even with her sweater on. So this year, we decided to get away from the city and into an AirBnB in the forest - the Los Padres National Forest, that is!

After celebrating 3 of my little cousin's birthday at the beach, we cleaned up and headed to Ojala. The views were beautiful and it was so quiet and peaceful.

Once we arrived to our AirBnB, we were greeted with a fruit stand with all fruits grown on the farm. The little black box at the top is where you pay for the fruits. We didn't purchase anything from there because we pre-ordered some pixie oranges from their farm (and they were sweet and juicy!). Our detatched studio was surrounded with fruits and grapevines, which sectioned us off for our privacy.

This trip wasn't for any adventure purposes, but it was an adventure within itself. It was a nice get-away from the noisy city. The fact that we were surrounded with nature, private hiking trails and lovely people made it all the worthwhile. As the sun set, me and the pup hung out on the couch on our patio.

Our second night there before sunset, we decided to check out the trails around the farm. We opted to leave the furbaby back at the studio because we weren't sure if the host had their dogs running loose. We came across an avocado tree. It was so cute that I had to take a photo.

As we hiked towards Meditation Point, the trails were getting steeper and I was getting tired. Right when I wanted to turn back around, just 5 foot ahead of me, behind all the bushes... was Meditation Point! We stayed there for awhile and took in the views and the sounds. We headed back down and we got lost! The sun was setting and we did not carry a flashlight. It was us against the light. Fortunately, we found our way back. The following morning, we stopped by a local coffee shop, Coffee Connection, and got ourselves an iced Mayan Mocha - it was so good, I was sad when the cup was empty!
